Abstrak

Background: Anatomy and histology are essential foundations in medical education, yet students often perceive these subjects as difficult and heavily memorization-based. The rapid integration of digital tools such as virtual microscopy (VM) and 3D anatomical models provides new opportunities to enhance student engagement and understanding.

Aims: This study aims to describe medical students’ perceptions of anatomy and histology learning in the context of modern medical education and to identify potential areas for curriculum improvement.

Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 341 undergraduate medical students using a validated questionnaire distributed via Google Form. Data were analyzed descriptively to assess students’ perceptions in both courses.

Results: Most students demonstrated positive perceptions of anatomy (97.9%) and histology (94.4%) learning, primarily within the “good” and “very good” categories. Female students dominated the sample (82.1%), and the majority were aged 20–21 years. Findings indicate effective teaching strategies integrating clinical relevance and digital learning tools.

Conclusion: Students’ positive perceptions reflect successful teaching strategies that combine clinical integration and technological innovation. Continuous feedback mechanisms, balanced online–offline learning, and faculty development are recommended to maintain and enhance educational quality.
